iManage Offers Collaboration Platform with Multi-tenant Support

Collaborative content management (CCM) software provider iManage Inc. debuted its iManage Worksite MP content management and collaboration platform, a Java-based platform which supports multi-tenant environments, such as in an ASP model.

Worksite MP allows development partners to set up separate, secure instances of CCM software serving multiple internal entities such as business units or multiple customers, all on the same server. This architecture enables developers and independent software vendors (ISVs) to support shared service and ASP models, while minimizing physical infrastructure investments.

“We have seen burgeoning demand from our partners to offer their iManage-powered applications as a hosted service or in an ASP model,” said Steve Pattison, vice president of Business Development for iManage. “We are pleased to announce that iManage is the only platform with these unique shared service and ASP capabilities.”

Multi-tenant environments require isolation of content and user directories to ensure security and maintain customizations for each separate group of users. As a fundamental design decision, iManage WorkSite MP has been built from the ground up to support multi-tenant environments.

Each iManage WorkSite MP server can support multiple virtual repositories called facilities that are individually customizable, and maintain an independent user community and content base. Once a multi-tenant environment has been established, iManage WorkSite MP ensures that the ASP or shared service deployment can continue to grow to support exponential growth.

With iManage’s support for federated servers, instances can grow and shrink with minimal impact on hardware and administration. iManage enterprise clients are taking advantage of these features to provide highly customized solutions for different departments, support highly secure collaborative workspaces for confidential projects, support ethical walls between groups or clients and support unlimited growth in user populations, at a much lower cost of ownership than competing systems.
