Merant , the Hillsboro, Ore.-based enterprise change management (ECM) firm, today announced that it has signed a reseller agreement with Macromedia Inc., under which it will bundle Macromedia Dreamweaver 4 or Dreamweaver UltraDev 4 with Merant PVCS Content Manager 2.0.
Merant says this integration reinforces its commitment to providing customers with a dynamic content management solution through offering access to more than 40 pre-built Content Manager components and objects within Dreamweaver, PVCS Content Manager 2.0.
Professional Web developers use Dreamweaver as a Web authoring solution. Dreamweaver UltraDev is built on the same architecture, enabling developers to visually design Web applications using ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML), Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP), and Sun Microsystems JavaServer Pages (JSP).
Through offering open standards-based integration, Merant believes it is providing customers with innovative tools to manage change and allow Web sites to be up and running quickly. Features of the latest release of PVCS Content Manger are pre-built components such as authentication, syndication, personalization and dynamic date and document contribution.
“In evaluating Web content management tools, we specifically explored products that would easily integrate with our existing applications and tools in order to protect our IT investments,” says Steve Young, Assistant Director, Network Support, Educational Technology for the North East Independent School District.
He argues that the integration of Merant PVCS Content Manager with Macromedia Dreamweaver applications, allows more flexibility in Web page design: “The designer can remain in the Dreamweaver environment and check assets in and out directly. Additionally, the pre-built Java components will enable our Intranet and Web site development to be up and running in virtually no time,” he explains.
Andrew Weiss, Merant’s chief technology officer says the firm is thrilled to have entered into this relationship with Macromedia: “In addition to our product offerings, we’ve taken steps to offer extensions built specifically for Dreamweaver, and are now delivering that to customers in a way that best meets their specific needs,” he says.
