Mercantec Inc., a provider of electronic commerce solutions, is partnering with Slip.Net, a San Francisco based Internet
Service Provider (ISP) and Web hosting service.
Slip.Net plans to offer Mercantec SoftCart to its customers to provide an
affordable, integrated commerce solution. Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.
By using Mercantec SoftCart, Slip.Net customers can create a virtual store or
add commerce capabilities to their existing site while maintaining a
consistent look and feel. SoftCart can automatically take an aggregated order, calculate tax and shipping charges, offer a variety of secure online or offline payment systems and send the completed order to accounting or inventory control systems via e-mail, the file system, EDI messaging, or link applications.
Shoppers have the option of using various secure payment methods and can pay
off-line or online.
“With more and more merchants opening stores on the Web, we needed to provide
our customers with a specific hosting solution focused on commerce sites,”
said Ted Glenwright, president of Slip.Net. “Mercantec SoftCart’s flexible
architecture, secure payment methods and open interfaces makes the product an
ideal electronic commerce solution.”
Lisle, IL-based Mercantec, founded in 1995, has partnered with a worldwide
network of more than 85 ISPs to offer hosting and electronic commerce
solutions to merchants. Mercantec’s other distribution channels include Web
consultants, software developers, integrators and OEMs, including American
Express and Tandem Computers.
