Siemens, Staffware Unite To Streamline Healthcare

Siemens Medical Solutions, the Malvern, Pa.-based division of Siemens AG , today announced Staffware plc, a New York City-based provider of business process management solutions, as its strategic partner to provide workflow engine technology for Soarian, Siemens’ new generation health solution.

Siemens says Soarian is designed to assist the healthcare industry by streamlining the workflow and delivery of healthcare, and addressing patient safety, financial concerns, clinical staffing shortages and regulatory compliance issues.

The partnership aims to leverage Staffware’s business process management software, which currently has 1.5 million licensed users.

The technology includes a process rules engine; an intuitive design tool and integration and reporting capabilities. These functions are designed to enhance both eCustomer Relationship Management (CRM) and eProcurement/Commerce solutions.

“The combined resources of Siemens and Staffware will help foster extraordinary changes in the way healthcare is delivered,” says Frank W. Lavelle, president and CEO of Siemens Medical Solutions Health Services.

We will accomplish this by using our technologies to actively manage the delivery of care, and orchestrate services so that workflow is optimized from the perspectives of patients, clinicians and healthcare institutions,” he explains.
By using our technologies in this way so that workflow is optimized, we believe Siemens and Staffware will trigger unprecedented advances in the way healthcare is delivered.

Says John O’Connell, chairman and CEO of Staffware plc: “The agreement with Siemens is the first result of Staffware’s new focus on OEM style relationships with global leaders.”

“This is the first time our specialist workflow technologies have been embedded in the provision of healthcare services and by using our technologies in this way so that workflow is optimized, we believe Siemens and Staffware will trigger unprecedented advances in the way healthcare is delivered.”
