Sprint to Deploy 56K Service Nationwide

Jan 28, 1998

Sprint announced it will begin rolling
out 56Kbps Internet access service nationwide the first quarter 1998.

The company reports the high-speed 56K service will be available in many
major cities across the country in about 60 days using a national access
number.

Sprint will be implementing 3Com’s x2 technology, and will work with 3Com
on having the 56K service conform to the proposed International
Telecommunications Union (ITU) standard.

Sprint Internet Passport offers unlimited Internet access for $19.95 a
month. Or users can choose to pay only $1.50 per hour, with no minimum
usage required. Users can sign up for the service online, or phone
1-800-817-7755.
