Verio Inc. continued its recent
acquisition spree today by adding Monumental Network Systems Inc. to its
growing list of affiliate ISPs.
Verio said its latest acquisition is aimed at increasing its Mid-Atlantic
presence. Financial details were not disclosed.
Monumental Network Systems serves businesses and government agencies in the
Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and has a total of 21
points-of-presence throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
In addition to Net access, Monumental also provides a range of Internet
services, including Web development and hosting, network services, and
Intranet and integration services.
“Verio will leverage Monumental’s tremendously strong network and
operations to enhance Verio’s significant presence in one of the country’s
most important Internet markets,” said Verio President and Chief Operating
Officer Mark Johnson. “Monumental extends Verio’s ability to provide the
highest level of affordable, high-quality services and communications
functions demanded by business and institutional customers in the
Mid-Atlantic region.”
Last week, Verio also acquired
Internet Servers Inc. or iServer, a Utah-based company specializing in
Web hosting services. At the end of last year, the national ISP acquired
Pennsylvania-based PREPnet to expand its presence in the Northeast.
Verio affiliate OnRamp also closed out 1997 by acquiri
ng the Internet operations of Houston, Texas-based provider Sesquinet.
