Oracle Corporation announced the availability of Oracle Web Developer Suite 1.6 including Developer/2000, Oracle’s flagship application development and deployment environment.

Developer/2000 is tightly integrated with Designer/2000, Oracle’s application modelling, design, and generation tool, through a common meta-data repository.

Applications built with Designer/2000 and Developer/2000 leverage the
Oracle platform and can be deployed to scalable, professionally managed
Application Servers. Server-based deployment of applications dramatically
reduces administration costs.

“Today businesses want to reduce the time to market and cost of ownership of software solutions,” said Kieran Kilmartin, tools marketing manager at Oracle UK. “Web Developer Suite offers exactly this, providing productive model driven development tools on top of scalable, reliable Oracle servers.”

The development kit also contains Symantec Visual Page and a pre-release of
Oracle AppBuilder for Java 1.0, Oracle’s Java development environment for
building, debugging, and deploying component-based Java applications.

Web Developer Suite is available today through Oracle’s direct sales force
and Oracle Alliance. Pricing in the U.S. is $9,995 for corporate
developers. A special program price, only accessible to VARs, ISVs, and
System Integrators, is available for US$1,995.
