Rare Medium wants to make it easier for Web developers to design user-friendly sites.

The design consulting firm is currently building new labs in Dallas and London and will begin construction in Southern California soon. Rare Medium already has labs in New York, Atlanta and Sydney.

The labs support Rare Medium’s
user-centered design methodology and produce Web designs that are based on a
researched understanding of end-user goals, preferences and capabilities.

“Our Rare Experience Analysis Labs allow us to improve on our ‘measure
twice, cut once’ philosophy,” says Dr. Michael Rabin, vice president of user
research and information architecture for Rare Medium. “By providing
end-users with a seat at the design table, we can better ensure that we’re
creating solutions that are tailor-made for them.”

The labs are staffed with subject matter experts along with master and
doctorate-level behavioral science professionals, who identify ways of
improving the user experience.
