Scriptics Corp. Monday announced BizConnect, its business-to-business integration server.

BizConnect provides an XML infrastructure for developing business-to-business applications. By using a business logic paradigm as “simple as paper,” along with flexible integration with a wide range of software component standards, enterprise applications, legacy software and Internet technologies, BizConnect was designed to dramatically reduce the time, cost and complexity of business-to-business application
development.

By leveraging today’s Internet infrastructure and software technologies and standards, Scriptics simplifies the integration of business-to-business applications with existing enterprise applications, other Internet/XML applications, back-office and front-office systems and software components. The software is based on XML, HTML/HTTP, Visual Basic/COM, Java/EJB, SQL/database and the open source Tcl scripting language. This allows it to be easily extended using software components which have been developed using traditional languages such as Visual Basic, C, C++ and even Java/EJB.

BizConnect utilizes a number of innovative technologies which reduce the programming level traditionally required to capture business logic and create business integration applications. BizConnect Author allows developers to create applications by dragging-and-dropping elements in a schematic view of an XML document. This makes it a simple task for the developer to attach actions to XML elements that indicate how to process the corresponding elements. Actions are pre-defined using action wizards, and using the Tcl scripting language, developers can write simple scripts or develop custom wizards for custom actions.

BizConnect was designed as a complete XML platform, with secure, robust deployment, as well as development tools. BizConnect can be managed using traditional Web server tools, and can combine XML and HTML documents on a single server. The tool supports the Apache Web server on Unix, and contains an interface to Microsoft IIS Web server on Windows NT.

BizConnect is now available as a beta release and the general release will be available in November.
