Tripod Monday unveiled a plan to reward builders of sites on its network that receive at least 100 hits per day.
The Lycos (LCOS) subsidiary said the new program, dubbed Builder Bucks, makes it possible for its members to earn more than $25,000 a year. There is no limit on how much a site builder may make.
Tripod, 4 million members strong, hopes the new program will serve as an
incentive for high-profile builders to join its team.
This announcement comes in conjunction with Tripod’s release of a new suite of home page building tools, another tactic to help existing members become Premier Builders.
“With competition increasing among free home page-hosting sites, Tripod has
upped the ante with its Builder Bucks program for high-profile Web
developers,” said Tim Sloane, director of Internet infrastructure research for Aberdeen Group.
“Successful Web developers from the other free home page-hosting sites will clearly find the opportunity to derive revenue from site visits a major reason to relocate to Tripod.
