WebGain Targets E-Business

WebGain Inc. Wednesday released WebGain
Studio, an integrated e-commerce development solution designed to make
customers’ e-business concepts their e-business realities.

WebGain Studio integrates several leading technologies into a product
suite. It is WebGain’s attempt to provide an end-to-end, browser-to-database
Java development solution and deliver a comprehensive component-based
solution to enable companies to quickly move into the current e-commerce
marketplace.

WebGain Studio is designed to help enterprises substantially improve
programmer productivity and application completeness and quality, while
dramatically reducing the time required to get e-commerce applications to
market. WebGain Studio targets
enterprises, independent software vendors, system integrators and
value-added resellers.

WebGain Studio is built on today’s leading technologies acquired and
licensed from Symantec (VisualCafe), Macromedia (Dreamweaver), Tendril
Software (StructureBuilder), The Object People (TOPlink), and Sun
Microsystems (Java). By integrating and extending these proven
technologies, WebGain Studio will raise the bar for developer productivity,
and establish a new standard for an integrated e-commerce studio, a statement
released by the company said.

WebGain Studio is available in standard and professional editions. Both
versions enable Web design, and client and server-side development. Both
version of contain five modules: WebGain Author, WebGain VisualCafe, WebGain
StructureBuilder, WebGain TOPLink, and WebGain Open API. The Professional
Edition also provides object-relational database mapping.

The initial release of WebGain Studio will be tightly integrated with
three of popular application servers: BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere and
iPlanet. Future releases will add support for other application servers.
WebGain Studio will be available for BEA WebLogic in 30 days, and IBM
WebSphere and iPlanet shortly thereafter. Both the standard and
professional editions will be sold through direct and indirect channels

Privately-held WebGain seeks to help IT and business teams gain
competitive advantage by enabling them to rapidly build Java-component-based
e-commerce applications that can be deployed easily across a variety of
e-commerce application servers. WebGain Studio is the company’s flagship
product. WebGain’s other products are VisualCafe and StructureBuilder.
