Interleaf Upgrades Intranet Product

Mar 5, 1999

Interleaf Inc. this week released version 2.0 of BusinessWeb and BusinessWeb Plus.

The two products allow users to retrieve and view documents stored on intranets through a secure Web connection using a Java-enabled browser. In BusinessWeb, the viewer is contained in the product where BusinessWeb Plus uses a Java applet.

Interleaf said the new versions are easier to use thanks to the integration of a new version of its Xtravert Java technology. The technology allows users to easily search through text in Web documents. For BusinessWeb Plus users, the technology replaces the WorldView Java Viewer. New in both versions is support for printing through both Postscript and PCL printers.

“By providing solutions that leverage the power of the Web, we are focusing on the growing demand for electronic Web content…,” said Amanda Radice, Interleaf’s vice president of marketing.

Both products now support the Apache Web server as well as Sun’s UltraSPARC. A variety of other UNIX and mainframe platforms are also supported.

Customers with current maintenance contracts can receive the update for free. For new customers, pricing begins at $15,000 for BusinessWeb 2.0 and $25,000 for BusinessWeb Plus 2.0.
