Global ASP Interliant Inc. (Nasdaq:INIT) today launched a Remote Managed Firewall Service (MFS), an addition to its INIT Security portfolio of managed security services.

The INIT Remote MFS enables customers to outsource the design, implementation, monitoring, management and maintenance of their on-site firewall hardware and software to professionally certified Interliant security engineers. The service includes leasing options for the hardware and software, and professional services that include vulnerability assessment and VPN design, implementation and management.

“Even the best security hardware and software quickly become ineffective if you don’t have the personnel to appropriately manage and monitor the infrastructure,” said Peggy Campbell, senior product manager for INIT Security at Interliant. “Interliant’s INIT Remote Managed Firewall Service provides companies with a greater level of security than most of them can achieve on their own plus the peace of mind that allows them to focus on their core business needs.”

Many companies are unable to develop and maintain the in-house capabilities needed to manage and maintain security infrastructures. Vital patches may be ignored, policies may not be managed or updated and critical incidents may go uninvestigated due to the lack of trained staff. The INIT Remote MFS offering allows companies to leverage the expertise of Interliant’s certified professionals to strengthen existing, on-site security infrastructure to ensure round-the-clock protection and assurance.

Interliant’s INIT Solutions Suite includes managed messaging, managed hosting, security, OEM Web hosting and professional services. An April 2 restructuring eliminated Interliant’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), including HR and financials, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and e-commerce offerings, leaving the four core offerings.
