Global ASP Interliant Inc. (NASDAQ:INIT) this week added to its line of managed services a database hosting solution for Oracle databases, ranging from license rental to full database administration.

INIT Database Hosting is targeted at the customer who has the ability to manage an application, but would like to outsource the database for reasons of complexity, scalability and/or reliability.

Interliant hosts, monitors and supports a customer’s Oracle database in an Interliant data center on the INIT Managed Hosting platform, and provides database licenses, hardware, and database support, as well as monitoring and reporting for the hardware, operating system and database.

“Our depth and breadth of expertise enables us to extend services to the core database, including full database administration, troubleshooting, analysis, and repair, unlike most of our competitors who monitor only to the operating system level,” said Scott Aldsworth, director of Oracle products for Interliant.

The INIT Database Hosting solution provides for two different levels of database monitoring and support: Standard and Advanced. The Standard level includes an initial assessment with custom analysis report, hardware rental, database monitoring and support database backup and recovery, and emergency response. The Advanced level includes full database administration including operating system monitoring and user management, proactive database management, creation and maintenance of user accounts, and annual reporting.

As an Oracle iHost and Certified Solution Partner (CSP) in the Oracle Partner Program (OPP), Interliant has the ability to rent Oracle database licenses as part of a full range of industry-leading solutions that Interliant provides to its customers.

Interliant, headquartered in Purchase, NY, offers the INIT Solutions Suite, comprised of managed messaging, managed hosting, security, OEM Web hosting and professional services.
