Database software vendor Oracle announced an update to its PeopleSoft Enterprise platform.
Integrated with Oracle Fusion Middleware, version 9 signals the company’s goal of supporting PeopleSoft products.
The update, part of Oracle’s Project Fusion,
also includes its first application, Learning Management 9.0, which addresses regulatory compliance and worker certification.
“This release is the culmination of a year-long project to deliver
on customer requested enhancements and integrate core components of
the Oracle Fusion Middleware family with PeopleSoft applications,
Doris Wong, the new general manager of the PeopleSoft enterprise organization, said in a statement.
Wong said PeopleSoft
Enterprise 9 will allow customers to lower costs by integrating and reusing Oracle technology, including XML Publisher, Oracle Business Activity
Monitoring, Oracle Customer Care Data Hub.
In corporate governance, PeopleSoft Enterprise 9 helps companies
cope with the Patriot Act, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the
International Financial Reporting Standards.
The release improves Customer Relationship Management (CRM) by improving the productivity of customer service agents.
Oracle earlier this
month acquired CRM software maker Telephony@Work to compete against Salesforce.com and SAP.
Enterprise Performance, talent management, supplier relationship
management and tracking asset lifecycles are also focuses of
the updated database software.
PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management 9.0 was also released as
the first application set for the PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.0 suite.
Learning Management 9.0 addresses what in a statement Oracle called
the increased employee compliance mandates facing companies. The
software enables employee training records to be kept current and
supports electronic signatures, lessening the need for paper records.
Learning Management features also include greater support for
learning by mobile workers, advanced budgeting and human resource
management.
Oracle’s $10.3 billion acquisition of PeopleSoft made customers and partners nervous, so the company developed Project Fusion to alleviate customer and partner fears.
