RSA Selected by webMethods for Secure XML-Based Web Automation

RSA Data Security Inc. said that webMethods Inc., a provider of
XML-based solutions for business-to-business e-commerce, has incorporated
RSA’s BSAFE security technology into its Web Automation Suite.

Designed to maximize the power of XML, a next-generation development language
for the Web, the Web Automation Suite automates the exchange of data between
applications, Web sites and legacy data sources.

Financial arrangements with RSA were not disclosed.

“Our products enable companies to publish a set of Web application services,
such as purchasing, order tracking, and shipping, that enable them to forge
stronger and more profitable alliances with suppliers, customers and
partners,” said Phillip Merrick, CEO of Fairfax, VA-based webMethods.

“The Web Automation Suite’s support for HTML and XML data formats coupled with RSA’s security technology, allow our products to offer safe, secure and flexible integration using open Web standards.”

The BSAFE software is RSA’s general-purpose core cryptography engine. It
provides software developers with multiple algorithms and modules for adding
encryption and authentication features to applications.

BSAFE includes modules for popular security encryption techniques, such as RSA, DES, RC2, RC4, and Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), and also supports digital signatures and certificates.
