Digital announced today it will
provide a free e-mail service to users of its AltaVista Search Service in
conjunction with e-mail technology and solutions provider iName.

The service will be integrated into the AltaVista site to offer users
e-mail functions, including Web-based e-mail, forwarding, and storage.

Digital said that users will be able to choose either an AltaVista-branded
or personalized address, maintain a separate POP-3 message box, and create
e-mail accounts for others under one Internet connection.

“iName offers one of the most comprehensive e-mail infrastructures
available on the Internet,” said Bob Hult, vice president and general
manager of Digital’s AltaVista Search Service. “Our partnership provides
Internet
users the best of both worlds, creating a single destination for all of
their information and communications needs.”
