America Online Inc. Thursday agreed to
incorporate Myplay Inc.’s digital music
application into its audio player and radio service.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

AOL’s Winamp player and Spinner radio users will have access to
the newly co-branded digital locker, a feature of MyPlay which allows users to create and store their personal music collection.

As part of the agreement, MyPlay’s “Add to Locker” buttons will be located
next to songs available for download on the Winamp and Spinner sites. By
clicking on an “Add to Locker” button, they can obtain music within seconds
without having to wait for a download, as the tracks are transferred to
their locker.

Ted Leonsis, AOL’s (AOL)
president of interactive properties, said the deal was
inked because AOL wanted to cut in to the “ease of use” aspect that the
online music industry is appreciated for.

Currently downloaded more than 75,000 times daily, the new Winamp/MyPlay
locker will feature a one-step registration process that will allow
customers to sign up for a free co-branded digital locker which would be
directly accessible through their Winamp player. The
co-branded Winamp/MyPlay Locker is expected to roll out in the second
quarter.
