Attachmate Chooses ASL For HK & China Networking Markets

To cover a projected strong demand for
e-business solutions in Hong Kong and China, Attachmate has partnered with Automated Systems (HK) Ltd. (ASL), a
major regional systems integrator and network services provider, to offer
comprehensive host access management solutions.

Under the partnership, ASL will integrate Attachmate’s Unix and
OpenVMS-based host access management solutions with enterprise networking
applications that ASL will be developing for the local corporate market.

ASL will also distribute and co-market Attachmate’s full range of
standards-based host access management product lines, including KEA!,
PathWay, EXTRA! Universal Client for Chinese (EUCC) and e-Vantage for
Unix/OpenVMS.

“This partnership aims to provide more specialised solutions and support to
our growing number of customers in Hong Kong and China,” said Sammy Lee,
Attachmate’s general manager for Greater China.

“Our mutual customers will benefit from the combined strength of Attachmate
in the host access management solutions market and ASL in the Unix market,”
added Lee.

The deal will also allow Attachmate to exploit ASL’s strong market
base in the government, telecommunications and education sectors in Hong
Kong and China.

ASL hopes to strengthen its own portfolio by receiving on-going specialised
training and technical support in new host access management technologies
from Attachmate.

“ASL and Attachmate clearly understand the market’s need for reliable,
customised and interoperable solutions,” said Y. T. Lai, ASL’s director and
general manager. “This relationship, means that we can both better
anticipate and manage our customers’ changing IT needs.

ASL was established in Hong Kong in 1973 and is listed on the
Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The systems integrator is the major subsidiary of the CSA Group, consisting
of ASL, ELM Computer Technologies Ltd., CSA Automated (Macau) Limited
and Data Systems
Consulting Company Limited with operations in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan
