CANOE Inc. recently acquired
viasite.com, an online employment
brokerage.

CANOE acquired the service from recruitsoft.com, which originally
developed the resource.

viasite.com currently lists 1,400 employers and more than 60,000 job
seekers. The site provides online assistance to develop a resume, post it
on the integrated database, and make connections between job seekers and
employers.

Acquiring the completely bilingual site is the latest initiative by CANOE to
expand its services to its rapidly growing user base — now standing at a
very respectable 4.7 million unique visitors each month.

“This practical and powerful online service is a perfect fit with the scope
and commitment of CANOE,” said John Paton, CANOE president and chief
executive officer.

CANOE plans to use its new acquisition to expand the
scope of the employment section already carried on its www.classifiedextra.ca and www.classeesextra.ca classified advertising sites.

Launched in 1996, CANOE is a Quebecor company that has been a prominent
player in Canada’s new media industry, experiencing exponential traffic
growth and winning numerous awards.

Nationally branded products on the CANOE site include SLAM! Sports, Showbiz,
CANOE MONEY, CNEWS, C-Health, AUTONET.CA, Lifewise, and Classified Extra.

CANOE is also the online home of the Sun Media newspapers and offers a
variety of other services including Shop.canoe.ca, a one-stop-shopping site,
personalization, free e-mail, weather, and lotteries.
