[HANOVER, Germany] mediaWays, together with local providers, is making good on its
promise to take on T-Online. Over the weekend at CeBIT, mediaWays and BITel
signed a contract on network interconnection and a declaration
of intent on cooperative work in the area of broadband access.

CeBIT is international trade fair that specializes in information technology and telecommunications technology. The event is held annually each February in Hannover, Germany.

(ADSL).mediaWays, a large German B2B IP network operator and Internet
service provider, and BITel, the local telecommunications network in
Bielefeld
and the surrounding area, will offer fast Internet access for ‘private’
customers. To do this, they will implement ADSL technology. The pilot phase
of the local fast Internet offer begins April 1, 2001. The range of products
includes classic narrowband dial-up products in addition to ADSL products.

For private customers there will be a fixed monthly rate without any
calculation of Internet volume. BITel customers have the advantage of having
access to Internet services from AOL, Lycos, NGI, Debitel, RTL
and Compuserve. After the network interconnection has taken place, BITel and
GTelnet customers will be able to call up these Internet services from the
BITel network or the GTelnet network.

“Further cooperation will follow”, announced Arnold Stender, director of
sales/marketing, in a conversation with de.internet.com at the CeBIT today.
Tomorrow it could already be announced that Victor Vox from
Krefeld will be the next partner. Victor Vox has up to now been known as a
mobile phone minute reseller.

The Internet service provider mediaWays
operates one of the largest European communications networks based on the
Internet Protocol (IP). With its Internet and network services, mediaWays
occupies second place in Germany after Deutsche Telekom.
