Bellevue-based click2learn.com today announced that Norway’s NetCom GSM has selected click2learn’s e-Learning Network for its corporate university.

NetCom GSM, formed in 1993, is a leading telecommunications company in the Nordic countries. The Company provides GSM cellular services, under the Comviq and Tele2Mobil brands in Sweden, under Tele2Mobil in Norway, through its Ritabell subsidiary (Q-GSM) in Estonia and under the Tele2 brand in Lithuania.

Its corporate university, named BIGsister, was launched in April.

The e-Learning Network, an ASP solution, will provide NetCom with a hosted e-Learning site for accessing online courses and skill-building programs. NetCom will now be able to combine access to off-the-shelf courseware in addition to custom-built courses for NetCom-specific training, including courses on NetCom products and services. NetCom is also using click2learn’s Toolbook II authoring software to develop proprietary courseware.

According to click2learn’s President & CEO Kevin Oakes, Norway is a fast emerging e-learning market. “click2learn’s ASP-based e-Learning Network will enable NetCom to rapidly deploy an e-Learning solution that will solidify and enhance their leadership position, quickly and cost-effectively.”

NetCom’s Director of HR August Baumann believes that the e-learning corporate solution will play a major role in securing the competencies of his company’s employees. “NetCom’s intention is to make the corporate e-learning site the backbone of our competence solution,” says Baumann.
