CMGI Inc. Friday signed an agreement with Akamai Technologies
Inc.
to co-develop new Internet
technologies and make use of Akamai products and services.

CMGI (CMGI), through its network of Internet properties, will collaborate with Akamai (AKAM)
to develop applications intended to create and deliver dynamic content and
applications. The projects will include targeted advertising, dynamic page and content assembly,
application delivery and analysis services, the firms said.

CMGI companies will also use Akamai’s FreeFlow content delivery service.
FreeFlow is designed to let sites add rich media content without decreasing
site speed and performance. CMGI properties set to use the service include
NaviSite, AltaVista, 1stUp.com, NaviNet, Mondera.com and Furniture.com. Financial terms of the
partnership were not disclosed.

“As the companies in the CMGI network grow in scale
and scope, effective network performance and a continued positive user
experience become even more critical issues,” said David Wetherell, CMGI
chairman and chief executive officer. “We look forward to an
expansive relationship with Akamai that not only will provide benefits to
the CMGI network today, but will also work to develop new technologies
to support our mutual growth moving forward.”

This has been a busy week for CMGI, which Tuesday announced the formation of
CMGI Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary dedicated to providing e-business tools
and services. On Wednesday, the company announced a 2-for-1 split of the
company’s stock. The company has a network of more than 50 Internet
properties.
