Compaq On the Move In the Middle East

Compaq Computer Middle East, Mediterranean & Africa (MEMA) partnered with Oracle and Monday took its Gulf NonStop eBusiness Strategy & Unix show to the road, stopping first in Abu Dhabi.

The roadshow will visit five Gulf countries and demonstrate e-commerce and e-business solutions provided by Compaq and Oracle’s and solutions, according to published reports. The team will travel through Muscat, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, winding up the event in Bahrain on July 6.

Compaq at the same time will change leadership, with Andreas Barth set to retire June 30 from his post as senior vice-president and general manager of Compaq EMEA. The company has appointed Werner Koepf as general manager for the region.

“I am delighted to accept the challenge of taking EMEA forward by aligning our organisation around the new global structure announced today and by assuring the continued growth of Compaq’s operations in this region,” said Koepf.

Werner Koepf was CEO and chairman of European Silicon Structures BV for four years, and previously acted as vice president of its international systems division.
