[SINGAPORE] Cybersia.com (SEA) Pte Ltd.
soft-launched a global Chinese community site, Chineseroots.com, in
Singapore on Friday.

Like renren.com, Sina.com and China.com, Chineseroots.com hopes to
capture a chunk of the 50 million overseas Chinese population.

The Web site features 10 content channels : Homo Sapiens, Affairs of the
Heart, Ink & Paper, Take A Break, Eat Drink Man Woman, We are the
World, Mind & Body, Believe It or Not, Road to Success, Virtual Reality
Bytes.

According to Cyberasia, a global Chinese community feature on
Chineseroots has attracted interest from prominent clans and associations
in the region.

Four communities, the Singapore Federation of Clans and
Associations, the WA Chinese Press (of Western Australia), the Nanyang
Khek Community Guild and the Singapore Lee Clan General Association,
have already built their community on-line.

“We expect a big influx of communities joining us in the next six months,”
Dr Michael Yang, chief executive officer of Cybersia.com, said. “Virtual communities can
be built anywhere, but with Chineseroots.com, our communities will be
connected with other communities.”

Cybersia.com has launched an online competition to select a Chineseroots
Ambassador to tour Chinese communities around the world.
