European food industry hub
eFoodmanager.com
Tuesday acquired
DerFischmann.de,
an online marketplace for the seafood industry.

Joachim Reichelmann, DerFischmann’s founder and chief
executive officer, has joined eFoodmanager as head
of the seafood produce category.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Reichelmann said the move would be a significant step
forward for DerFischmann’s users. It would bring
additional services for finance and logistics, he said, while
penetrating previously hard to access international
markets for European fish industry sellers.

“eFoodmanager is opening up international markets
whilst at the same time achieving significant efficiency
gains for buyers and sellers alike,” said Reichelmann.

Speaking for eFoodmanager, Co-Founder and Chief Executive
Officer Jan Stenger said that the acquisition provides an
important building block to access Europe’s leading buying
and selling groups.

“We plan to have all major food categories tradable on the
platform by the year end,” said Stenger.

250 participants have now signed up for eFoodmanager’s platform.
They include retail and e-tailer groups, manufacturer and traders
across a range of different categories. There will be a trial of
the service in selected categories during May, when users will be
able to use the system to trade in fruit and vegetables, seafood,
meat and dairy products.

Three main areas are planned for the eFoodmanager site: an
open market for trading among users; individual channels
for trading with pre-selected parties and a Services area
where users can access logistics, packaging, insurance, financial
services and useful information.
