Fidelity Investments Monday launched Powerstreet, a new online offering designed to take advantage of its conventional brokerage services.
Powerstreet will offer individual investors with customized financial planning and trading tools. Tapping into the wireless market, Fidelity will offer InstantBroker two-way wireless trading application for handheld devices.
In October, Powerstreet will launch a personalized start page dubbed Fidelity My View, created in partnership with portal player Lycos Inc.
(LCOS).
Under the terms of the agreement, Fidelity will include Lycos in an extensive advertising campaign scheduled for this fall, and will serve as an advertiser on the Lycos network financial site, Quote.com.
Fidelity will also carry its partnership with MarketWatch.com to the new deal, offering traders access to CBSMarketWatch’s (MKTW) real-time U.S. securities market tracking tool MarketPulse for four months this fall.
An additional online investment tool, PowerPlanner, will be available to Fidelity customers with $100,000 in assets in the company. The service is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of next year. Other upcoming features include free NASDAQ level II quotes.
“Fidelity helped pioneer the discount brokerage business twenty years ago,” said Gary Burkhead, FMR Corp.’s vice chairman and Fidelity Personal Investments & Brokerage Group’s president. “With the introduction of Powerstreet, we’re relaunching our entire brokerage business, and in the process, redefining what it means to involved investors.”
