Freenet Buys meOme

Oct 9, 2000

[Berlin, GERMANY] The freenet.de AG online service is taking over 75.1 percent of
n-tree AG, Berlin. Additionally, an option to take over the remaining shares
has apparently been arranged. Freenet, an Internet portal belonging to
Mobilcom AG (B|delsdorf), announced today that a relevant preliminary
contract was signed on Friday. Exact figures were not named. n-tree AG
provides the meOme.de Internet service, which defines itself as an expert
network for professional information.

The meOme.de model is based on the successful American model about.com, and
it finances itself through targeted marketing, advertising, and e-commerce.
For the short term, this service is also going to be integrated into the
freenet.de portal as well as into target group-oriented portals such as
4Players, Geeksworld, and DINO-Online. Mobilcom, freenet’s parent company,
says that they are looking for an international cooperation partner for the
service, and insiders are not ruling out a sale.
