Hitwise Heads to South Africa

[Sydney, AUSTRALIA] Web monitoring company Hitwise has partnered with South African Internet operation Cybernac Online to expand its measurement service into South Africa, and provide the coutnry with its first taste of third party Internet measurement.

Cybernac will partner with Hitwise creator Sinewave to establish and market the service, and track the online habits of the country’s growing Internet population.

The service will provide daily, weekly and monthly rankings across more than 130 categories, and will be marketed to Web publishers, marketing agencies, financial analysts and the media.

Hitwise is using the alliance to gain immediate access to Web site owners and businesses in South Africa, said the company’s international business director Brendan McKeegan.

The move into South Africa follows Hitwise’s expansion into New Zealand, and is a prelude to other global expansion plans the company is entertaining, that include Hong Kong, Korea, Japan and the United Kingdom.
