HotBot Snags Yahoo!, Netcenter Placement

Wired Digital announced this week that its HotBot service will be featured as an alternative search provider on Yahoo! and Netscape Communications Corp.’s Netcenter.

Financial terms of the distribution agreements were not announced.

As an alternative search provider on Yahoo!, HotBot will join other search engines such as Alta Vista, Infoseek, and Lycos listed at the bottom of all Yahoo! search results pages.

The Netscape agreement names HotBot as a Distinguished Provider under which it will occupy a premium position on Netscape’s Net Search page. A HotBot link will be featured and highlighted with a gold star on the page’s “Search the Web” category. Netscape’s Net Search page is the default search page for the Netcenter portal site.

Currently HotBot said its site has over 8 million unique users per month
and is in the top 25 of the highest trafficked sites on the Web.

“Although HotBot continues to attract significant traffic increases
through its recognition by leading influencers–journalists, analysts, and
researchers–we’re always looking for additional opportunities to extend our
search services to new pools of users,” said Mary Murphy, Wired Digital’s vice president of marketing.
