Lycos (NASDAQ:LCOS) signs a three-year agreement with magazine subscription firm The Electronic Newsstand which will pay the search and navigation firm $10.5 million over three years to promote its services on Lycos’ Network. Another example in the developing world of goods and services paying for distribution at the Web networks.
Mecklermedia (NASDAQ:MECK), producer of this report, says that its Spring Internet World trade show in Los Angeles last year infused $25.5 million dollars in one week alone into the local economy. Some 50,000 Internet professionals will do it again this year at the Los Angeles Convention Center, March 9-13. The on-air promotion helped fuel the jump in views as did a chat appearance by NBA’s Michael Jordan. SPLN reports the Olympic pages generated $2 million in revenue.
