- USWeb NASDAQ:USWB) agrees to acquire Gray Peak Technologies (GPT) in a stock deal valued between $80 million to $100 million. The GPT acquisition will allow USWeb to offer more network integration, network security, and voice over IP. We think intranets will increasingly use the Web protocols for a range of network-based communications and distribution. As such, this positions USWeb as a better solution provider.
- Open Market (NASDAQ:OMKT), which makes Web commerce software, inks a strategic alliance with PLATINUM technology (NASDAQ:PLAT), a software and service provider for global firms. The deal extends Open Market’s leading commerce software into Information Technology or IT departments that PLATINUM sells into.
- E*TRADE (NASDAQ:EGRP) signs an exclusive deal with Sportline (NASDAQ:SPLN) to be the trading service on the sports content site’s business and finance area. Terms undisclosed.
