- Lycos (NASDAQ:LCOS) posts $19 million revenue for its fiscal fourth quarter, up 145% vs. 4Q97. Loss before charges narrower than expected at $0.09 loss per share vs. First Call analyst consensus loss of $0.13 per share. With charges loss reaches $0.32 per share. The fourth-largest Web network, Lycos’ revenue was half that of leader Yahoo! (NASDAQ:YHOO). We believe the acquisition of a slew of community sites could boost Lycos’ top line if it can extract user value via marketing deals for the increased audience. It’s a delicate art as GeoCities has found.
- AOL (NYSE:AOL) gets an initial “buy” rating from Deutsche Bank.
- @Home (NASDAQ:ATHM) receives an initial “accumulate” rating from Deutsche Bank and “buy” rating from Barings Furman Selz.
