  • Netscape (NASDAQ:NSCP) browser shares falls from 51% to 42% the first six months of this year, according to a study by IDC. Largest rival Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Internet Explorer holds 44% effective marketshare (including AOL usage). On its own, IE gains 5% to 28%. We think the loss of browser share somewhat softens Netscape’s “default” growth of its Website Netcenter. Netscape needs to be aggressive in bundling Navigator/Communicator to seed the future users for its Web efforts.

  • Mecklermedia (NASDAQ:MECK) opens ISPCon, the world’s largest ISP convention, in San Jose today through Oct. 2 and kicks off the world’s largest e-business Internet trade show/conference Oct. 5-9, Fall Internet World. See www.boardwatch.com for ISP news from ISPCon.

  • Broadcast.com (NASDAQ:BCST) teams up with ESPN to deliver more than 1,000 NCAA football games with video-audio and stats over the Internet.

  • Market Guide (NASDAQ:MARG) reports $2.3 million revenue for its quarter ending August 31, up 37% vs. teh same period last year. Net income reaches $161k or $0.03 EPS. Web redistribution agreements and ads fuel the rise, with Market Guide available on more than 40 Web sites and marketguide.com.
