Internet World Asia Deploys Indian Firm’s Web Diary

Participants at Internet World Asia @ Singapore ’99 will have access to an online calendar and scheduling service.

Organizers of Internet World signed an agreement with Indian firm Ruksun Software Technologies for the production of a customized version of the global Web-based calendar application, Easy Diary, for this years Internet World Asia.

Launched in October 1998, Easy Diary is a free online application that allows users to view other appointment books and to schedule meetings with other users. Easy Diary issues e-mail reminders for appointments made and has the capacity for entries to be stored in international time zones.

“Easy Diary creates the added convenience for participants attending a large trade show,” said event organizer Jimmy Lau, president of Reed Exhibition Companies, Singapore. “With Easy Diary, exhibitors will know in advance who to expect at the show and making appointments to meet on site will be a breeze.”

“Easy Diary basically reduces the need for intensive prospecting which can be difficult with geographical boundaries and time differences,” continued Lau.

Exhibitors, conference speakers, delegates, trade visitors and journalists participating in Internet World Asia @ Singapore ’99 will have profiles created by the service. All registered participants will be issued user names and passwords when the application goes live in the next few weeks.

“This is the first time Easy Diary is being customized for an Internet World event,” said Anita Kulkarni-Puranik, business unit manager of Ruksun Software Technologies. “Through this exercise, we hope to reach new users who will find the advantages of having a diary accessible by anyone, from anywhere in the world.”

“We believe this will be the first Asia trade show event where an entirely Web-based scheduling system will be used,” said Michael Westcott, regional managing director-Asia for Penton Media, Inc, owner and producer of Internet World trade events. “This will add tremendous value to exhibitors and visitors a like and help them focus on their business objectives at the show.”

Internet World Asia @ Singapore ’99 will be held from March 3-5 and has a cooperative agreement with the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference On Operations Technologies ’99 (APRICOT) which is taking place in Singapore during the same period.
