Launch Brief

Jan 12, 2001
1 minute read

Beaverton, Oregon-based Proactive International recently launched Japanware.com. Japanware.com provides non-Japanese corporations with solutions to registering difficult to acquire Japanese domains, as well as launching e-commerce businesses targeting Japanese customers.

The Japanware.com services are a response to deregulation in Japan of domain name management. Only Japanese companies and foreign subsidiaries may acquire “.co.jp” Japanese domain names. In 2001, Japanese companies can acquire any number of domain names. Analysts anticipate a frenzied domain name grab similar to that experienced under the .com domains.

Japanware.com is collaboration between Proactive International, LLC of Beaverton, Oregon, and Digital Point, Inc. of Tokyo, Japan.
