Canadian Look Communications Inc. Wednesday launched Looktvi.com, a streaming portal and next generation new media and content service provider for high speed Internet.

The vertical portal offers search capabilities, navigational tools and features designed to support and showcase streaming audio and video content.

David Parkes, president and chief executive officer of Look Communications, said Look has download speeds of 3 mbps and Looktvi will add premium content to take advantage of the speed.

Looktvi.com searches and delivers only audio and video streaming content, enabling it to showcase more than 200 Web properties from Canada, the U.S. and around the world. Visitors can access live and archived audio and video content using a range of criteria — from the title of a song or the director of a movie to a song lyric or key phrase — keyed to a multiplicity of media players or streams.

Designed by The Streamedia Digital Solutions Group, a division of Streamedia.Net, the content of Looktvi.com is organized by category: news, sports, life, technology, entertainment. Visitors to the Looktvi.com portal can watch clips of movies or television shows, listen to an array of music ranging from jazz and classical to country and hip hop, or go to the spotlight section to watch live, up-to-the-minute specialty broadcasts and breaking news, all from their computers.

Looktvi.com has agreements with content providers including Global TV (New Media), StreamSearch, and WorkdayTV.

The portal also provides advertisers with an opportunity to showcase audio and video advertising. Advertisements can range from a 10 second radio spot to a 60 second video infomercial.
