Mecklermedia Corp. today announced the acquisition of JavaScript Source, a leading online library of JavaScript programs.
The resource is the 17th Web site acquisition for Mecklermedia’s Internet.com network. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Ronnie T. Moore, creator of JavaScript Source, will join Internet.com and
continue to manage the site which receives roughly 1 million page views per month. A JavaScript Source weekly e-mail
newsletter is also part of the acquisition.
The site will join Internet.com’s growing community of Web
Developer resources that already includes JavaBoutique, WebDeveloper.com, WebReference, and Web Developer’s Virtual Library.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer Internet.com users another quality
resource like JavaScript Source, which we believe is the most comprehensive
JavaScript
site on the Internet,” said Chris Elwell, Internet.com vice president and
general manager. “This site adds to Internet.com’s outstanding collection
of tools for
Web developers and increases Internet.com’s market-leading reach in the
category,” Elwell added.
Today’s announcement marks the 17th Web site Mecklermedia has acquired since 1995. In May, the company acquired One Inc., ISPCON trade show developer and publisher of BoardWatch magazine and its Web site.
Internet.com’s network of sites serve approximately 17 million pages to 1 million unique visitors monthly.
“We realized several years ago that talented people had created sites
with commercial potential, but that most of them did not have the resources
to capitalize on the opportunity,” said Alan M. Meckler, chairman and CEO of
Mecklermedia. “We began buying Internet-related content sites in 1995 that
appealed to the audience which we serve with our Internet World shows and
weekly print publication.
“This collection of sites serves the most demographically-attractive
audience on the Web, an audience comprised of Web developers, Internet
professionals and sophisticated Internet users. Mecklermedia will continue
to acquire Web sites that fit with the Internet.com model and support the
Company’s other properties,” added Meckler.
