Mobile Market to Hit $1T by 2014: Gartner

Is it any wonder Google, Apple, Microsoft and just about every other high-tech company is doubling down on its mobile device and service offerings? According to market researcher Gartner, the mobile ecosystem will balloon into a $1 trillion market by 2014.

So where does that leave IT decision makers? Gartner’s best advice: develop a “high-level mobile strategy,” rather than committing to any particular device or platform. Enterprise Mobile Today takes a look.


The market for mobile voice and mobile data services is going to grow to mammoth proportions over the next four years.

According to research giant Gartner (NYSE: IT), the tab for all those communications services will hit a trillion dollars a year by 2014. The prediction came on the final day of the firm’s Gartner Symposium/ITxpo held in Orlando Thursday.
