Nokia Monday announced it will supply a GSM 900 and GSM 1800 network expansion to Chinese operator Fujian Mobile Communications Company (MCC) in a deal worth $230 million.

The expansion will increase Fujian MCC’s capacity by over three million subscribers and meet the demand from continued strong subscriber growth, Nokia said in a statement.

Implementation is expected to be completed early next year. Nokia has been delivering GSM infrastructure to Fujian MCC since the operator launched its services in 1995 and this deal represents its sixth expansion. Fujian MCC currently has a capacity for 4.2 million subscribers, Nokia said.
