Novell Inc. Tuesday took a step to gain a foothold in the growing application service provider market with the acquisition of JustOn Inc.

Novell said the acquisition of JustOn, which provides Internet file sharing and publishing service, will allow it to expand its strength in network file services to fast-growing Internet markets.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Novell (NOVL) plans to integrate JustOn with its In-the-Net Solutions group based in San Jose, Calif. Novell will continue to support JustOn’s existing services and customers.

Mike Sheridan, Novell’s vice president for strategic business, said JustOn’s technology will help make file services a core part of In-the-Net Solutions’ offerings.

“In-The-Net Services are extending Novell’s core networking strengths to the Internet and driving our growth as the broadest supplier of Web infrastructure software,” he said.
