Pacific Internet announced on Thursday that it has concluded an agreement with StarEastNet Multimedia, a entertainment and lifestyle content provider based in Hong Kong.
StarEastNet Multimedia provides entertainment content via its StarEastNet Web site. Popular Asian entertainers including HK-to-Hollywood superstar Jackie Chan have signed agreements with StarEastNet to develop their own Web sites.
StarEastNet.com is an Internet Content Provider and the portal of Star East Information Technology Corp which is backed by three Hong Kong listed groups (Star East Holdings Ltd., Hanny Holdings Ltd. and Pacific Century Cyberworks Ltd.) as well as Japan’s Hikari Tsushin.
The agreement says that a co-branded Web site will be hosted at Pacific Internet’s lifestyle and e-business portal Pacfusion.com. Content from StarEastNet will be featured on the Chinese segment of Pacfusion.com, while advertising revenue generated will be shared equally.
Chinese entertainment content to be provided by StarEastNet on the co-branded site will feature profiles of entertainers, Net radio, Net TV shows, online chats with the stars and auctions of artistes’ personal belongings.
“StarEastNet’s strength is its direct access to popular Asian celebrities,” said Lim Lai Hwa, general manager of StarEastNet Multimedia, pointing out that her firm has signed on over 100 leading entertainers from Hong Kong and Singapore. “By the end of the year, we aim to include entertainers from other parts of Asia as we open mirror Web sites there — these include Malaysia, Taiwan, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo.”
“With Pacfusion.com, we intend to further develop our offerings to the Chinese web community within Asia, especially in light of our regional expansion plans into the Hong Kong, Taiwan and China markets,” said Pacfusion.com president Larry Ang. Pacfusion.com and its associated websites claim 12-15 million pageviews a month.
In addition, Pacfusion.com and StarEastNet Multimedia will collaborate in a membership affiliation program which aims to drive traffic to each party’s Web properties.
