Physicians’ Online,
Inc. (POL), a community site for doctors, today announced new Internet
resources intended to facilitate communication between patients and doctors
on the Web.
Until now, POL said it focused exclusively on building an online community
of physicians. With the introduction of the Physician Website service, POL
explained it is expanding by helping its members increase productivity within their practices.
Member physicians can now use a template to create an online presence, the
company said, where patients can access professional information related to
the practice as well as personal information about their doctor.
“One of our primary goals in launching this service is to help empower
patients with as much information as possible about doctors,” said David
Richards, POL president and CEO. “Further enhancements to the service will
allow doctors to include
health news and patient information on their Web sites.”
Also announced today is a Web site feature designed to make pharmaceutical
samples
available to physicians through their desktop computers. POL said that
members may select from an online listing of drugs available for sampling,
print out a form and mail it to the sampling house.
