Rolls-Royce Launches E-Business Portal

[London, ENGLAND] Aerospace company
Rolls-Royce
announced Friday that it will launch a trial of its
new e-business portal — aeromanager — at the
Farnborough Air Show, which begins July 24.

Designed by Data Systems & Solutions, a joint venture
between Rolls-Royce and Science Applications International
Corporation (SAIC), aeromanager will give airlines instant
access to engine aftermarket services via the Internet.

Data Systems & Solutions currently manages nine hundred
engines in service with 25 airlines. Now, the airlines
will be able to access up-to-the-minute status reports on
all their engines, 24 hours a day.

John Cheffins, Rolls-Royce managing director, airlines,
said that aeromanager was a direct result of listening to
the needs of customers.

“The facilities on offer will allow operators unprecedented
flexibility to manage their engine fleet operations based
on the availability of timely accurate information,”
said Cheffins.

Among the facilities being offered via aeromanager is
a customized Internet gateway to all the engine information
services provided by Data Systems & Solutions. The
site will also provide engine leasing, together with full
access to surplus inventory information and a central
library of technical publications on aero engine products.

Rolls-Royce’s new e-business portal is yet another indication
that the Internet is being used as a trusted medium for
the most demanding applications. The information carried
by aeromanager will be vital to the safety of airline
passengers.

Initially, Rolls-Royce will conduct a trial with
an airline user group, then follow up with a full
commercial launch at a later date.
