StarMedia Acquires Community Service LatinRed

StarMedia Network Wednesday bought
Spain-based LatinRed, one of the
largest Spanish-language free service networks on the Web.

LatinRed provides a suite of free community services in major markets
including Spain, the U.S., Argentina, Mexico and Colombia. LatinRed
provides LatinMail e-mail, GratisWeb homepages, and LatinChat chat services, among other
services.

The company said the purchase reaffirms its presence in
Spain, the U.S., and Latin America.

Last week, StarMedia
purchased Chilean company Servicios Interactivos Ltda.(SIL), owner of
portals openchile.cl”>OpenChile
and Panoramas.cl.
In an previous shopping spree, the company acquired Brazilian directories
Cade? and Zeek!.

LatinRed will continue to operate independently at its headquarters in
Barcelona.
