StarMedia Announces Prizes for Best Online Advertisers

StarMedia has announced at the Interativa ’99 the creation the StarMedia Awards, a prize for the best advertising works published this year on the the company’s network.

“This is the year of the Internet in Brazil,” said the vice-president for business-to-business at StarMedia, Indio Brasileiro Guerra Neto. “Advertising agencies are getting better and creating departments focused on the Internet, transforming the Web in an essential communication media for campaigns with guaranteed success and recall.”

The award’s categories are Best Campaign, Best Agency and Best Client.

Starmedia (STRM) has also used the opportunity to introduce its new e-commerce
director, Emerson Calegaretti, who will now work with Fernanda Baumhardt in
the development of the electronic commerce department for the Brazilian
branch of the company.

Before starting at Starmedia, Calegaretti was an area manager for Latin
America at e-commerce software producer Intershop Communications, Inc., where he was responsible for the sales channels in
Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Venezuela.
