[May 23] According to online media delivery specialist
RealNetworks,
the use of streaming media in Europe is set to explode
this year.
To help capture the market, RealNetworks announced
Tuesday a new conference named “Real Conference Europe
2000” which it will stage at Disneyland Paris, June 28-30.
Over 1,000 industry professionals, ranging from developers
to radio broadcasters, are expected to attend the conference.
Brian Aiken, vice president of RealNetworks Europe, explained
the reasoning behind his company’s decision to stage a European
conference, saying that the market was on the verge of a
massive expansion.
“There are currently over twenty million users of RealPlayer
in Europe and we believe this number will double or treble
in the year 2000. This conference will enable us to increase
knowledge and awareness of streaming media within Europe and
show how RealNetworks is driving the imminent convergence
of traditional media and new technologies,” said Aiken.
Over three days, various speakers will present papers
covering all the technical and marketing issues associated
with streaming media.
Rob Glaser, the founder and chief executive officer of
RealNetworks, will deliver a keynote speech, as will
Robert Madge, founder and chief executive officer of
Madge Networks.
Among the topics addressed in the sessions will be
the latest techniques of production automation and content
development. RealNetworks says delegates will be able to
create personalized information programs and find out
how to use streaming media to “drive their individual
business forward.”
