Z.Com Tuesday launched a
new initiative that allows media companies to establish their own
custom-branded Web sites and capitalize on the Web’s potential to offer a
new revenue stream.
Dubbed the World Network, the portal brings together 1,500 Web sites
dedicated to radio and television stations, newspapers and magazines.
All of the partners supply a variety of content which includes world news,
movie reviews, new music, Web site guides, electronic postcards and
environmental news. Z.com has also partnered with many of the leading
search engines to enable users to start in-depth research at the site.
The majority of the networks are affiliated radio stations, including Z100 New York, 99X Atlanta and Star San Diego.
“World Network portals allow radio stations and other media companies to
retain Web visitors that would otherwise be lost to other portals,” said
Jeff Gold, CEO of Z.Com. “With our heavy emphasis on radio, we are
attracting advertisers that want to reach radio listeners everywhere.”
Charter advertisers include Hilton Hotels, 1-800-Flowers, Cybermeals, and
Netscape.
In related news, Z.com also today unveiled a redesign of its Web site, in conjunction with the World Network
launch.
World Network features the sites of media outlets in most major U.S.
markets and over 40 other countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada,
China, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Holland, Indonesia, Latvia, Mexico, Norway,
Romania, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
