WorldPort Repositions European Subsidiary EnerTel

WorldPort Communications, of Atlanta Georgia,
(WRDP), has strategically repositioned its European subsidiary EnerTel
as a provider of communications services to carriers, multinational
corporations and ISPs.

WorldPort has now completed the sale of the
Dutch subsidiary’s consumer and residential business unit, making
EnerTel a regional gateway for high volume customers.

“This transaction solidifies EnerTel’s position as a leading alternative carrier for
national and international long distance and Internet services in The
Netherlands,” said Dan Wickersham, president and CEO of WorldPort. “As our global network expands through internal development and acquisitions, we continually seek to maximize our
return on investment by focusing our operations, sales and marketing on
those market segments where early market entry and our global network
efficiencies enable WorldPort to attain and retain market leadership.”

EnerTel has a 19,000 kilometre network of fibre optics in The
Netherlands that will provide access, transport and termination in
conjunction with the rest of WorldPort’s global networks. EnerTel will
continue to serve the former customers of the residential services unit as
a preferred supplier of wholesale carrier services.

WorldPort Communications provides international long distance services
to The Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East, via a
seamless system of fibre-optic cables, advanced circuit and packet
switches, and gateways.
