Seattle.internet.com has learned that Seattle-based Xypoint has begun beta testing of NOMAD, a
wireless email service that lets you hear your email with your current wireless phone.
According to Xypoint’s President and CEO Ken Arneson, Xypoint’s platform combines a unique blend of voice and text technologies that eliminate the need for special purpose devices like Blackberry.
“Now you only need a digital phone to stay connected to your corporate email while your on the road,” says Arneson.
Some other key features of Xypoint’s latest service include the ability to respond to messages in your own voice, immediate inbox update on your computer if the message was deleted, read, replied to, or forwarded and full access to Microsoft Outlook.
Carriers can license NOMAD through Xypoint or consumers can individually request the service at www.WebWirelessNow.com.
Future versions of the service will use mobile location integrated with such corporate travel information as traffic conditions and localized weather. Other features like instant messaging, calendar and task lists will also be intergrated.
